WhatIfWeFly

Artmakessense Life Drawing, March 24 with Maria (@WhatIfWeFly) inspired by the art of Vanessa Beecroft

Life drawing zoom session with Maria, inspired by the art of Vanessa Beecroft.

Maria will put on white body paint on her face and body. Posing on a black background. The women in the art performances of Vanessa are looking very neutral, as if they are mannequins, living sculptures. We focus on portraits and full body. The dry white paint asks for improvisation , maybe working on a dark colour paper.

Inspirational artist: Vanessa Beecroft

Born in Genoa, Italy, in 1969. Lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Vanessa Beecroft’s work has been shown internationally since 1993, and has shaped performance art, the representation of the female body, and the sociopolitical discussions of art.
Beecroft’s performances highlight the tensions between nakedness and clothing, constraint and freedom, the collective and the individual, and human strength and weakness.

Model: Maria / WhatIfWeFly

Maria considers herself hugely fortunate to life model full time and adore working with creative people. She is constantly inspired and in awe of the variety of never ending possibilities art creates.

Vanessa Beecroft is a huge inspiration. Maria loves the strong female presence in her work. That sometimes uneasy mix of mannequin, female power, elegance and with her painted series a hark back to classical sculpture. With paired back performances you are forced to confront what may make you feel uncomfortable.
